1c Green, Die I, Gray Rough-Surfaced Postal Card (UX27C; USPCC S38). Mint card without printed address or printing on back, some slight soiling in upper portion, Very Fine appearing example of this scarce card, in 1916 during a war-time paper shortage this substandard grade of card stock was used temporarily for a period of about two months, they were not sold singly but were supplied to printers, which accounts for their rarity without printed addresses

Railway Co. printed form on back, deep dark color with clearly evident Die II characteristics, Very Fine, this substandard grade of card was used temporarily for a period of about two months, they were not sold singly but were supplied to printers, Scott value for a fully mint card is $20,000.00 and for preprinted (face) $550.00, USPCC catalogue advises that "clean face" cards are valued somewhere between mint and unused, priced here as preprinted face
