$5,000.00 Carmine, "Series 1952" Ovpt. (R618). Serial no. 506, deep rich color, bold handstamp cancel, accompanying certificate mentions and pictures light adhesive stain in the right margin -- which was simply gum residue and has been soaked off with plain waterFINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE $5,000.00 "SERIES 1952" REVENUE ISSUE AND DESIRABLE CANCELLED SOLELY BY A HANDSTAMP.
We have offered only eight others since keeping computerized records, including four with perf cancels, one with manuscript only, one with both manuscript and handstamp and only two others cancelled solely by a handstamp. Of the possible cancel configurations, the handstamp-only is clearly the most desirable.
