Complete set of blocks of eight in all four colors, rich color, large margins, Scarlet split into two blocks of four and rejoined, Blue with scissors-cut between right stamps and thin spot at bottom leftVERY FINE. THE UNIQUE SET OF BLOCKS OF EIGHT OF ATLANTA TRIAL COLOR PROOFS OF THE FRANKLIN CARRIER ISSUE.
The Atlanta trial color plate proofs on card were prepared for display at the 1881 International Cotton Exposition in Atlanta. Only one sheet of 100 in each color was printed. Very few have been kept together as intact sets. The existence of this set of blocks of eight is truly remarkable.
