France Cancellations, 1849-70's. Several hundred stamps in one volume, the collector attempted to collect complete issues with the same cancel (and did an exceptional job) so there are no huge sections of same inexpensive stamp, cancels incl. large grill, small and large numerals, mute stars, stars with numerals, double circles, small dots, red, Paris Bureau, the Offices Abroad are nice (not collected as above) and incl. Egypt, Turkey, China, Japans and others, one striking item is a 5fr Napoleon No. 37 with a perfect bold "5080" in lozenge of dots from Alexandria, Egypt, there are about 30 French Packet Anchor cancels from 1853-75 again featuring a 5fr Napoleon, there are six other 5fr Napoleons in the collection incl. one with red cancel, finally there is a color/cancel study of the 1853-60 Issue, and incl. small quantities of better values as Nos. 12, 13, 19 and 20, also extensive 20c and 40c, former with some private perforations, an exceedingly nice specialized collection which is largely Fine-Very Fine
