CANAL ZONE, 1925-28, 2c-$1.00 Ty. B Ovpts. (84-95). Cancelled or tied by handstamps, used with few additional stamps and with 2c and 5c Panama Lindbergh labels, purple "Balboa C.Z. Registered, Feb. 8, 1929" backstamps on legal-size 2c entire to Whitneyville Conn., blue "Air Mail First Flight Canal Zone-U.S.A." cachet, various transit backstamps, some edge tears and few stamps with faults incl. $1.00 tear at bottom, still Very Fine and colorful, the $1.00 alone on cover catalogues $1,000.00
CANAL ZONE, 1925, 2c Carmine, "Canal" Only Ovpt. (84a). With top selvage, original gum, lightly hinged, rich color, choice centeringEXTREMELY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE "CANAL" ONLY VARIETY. ONLY 20 WERE PRINTED.
This variety was created when the sheet was shifted downwards during overprinting. 180 stamps bear the "Zone Canal" variety. Only 20 were printed with "Canal" only. It is believed the bottom panes were destroyed.

Clipperton Island-San Francisco, (unstated value) Green (Unlisted in Scott). Well-centered, used with 2c Carmine, Ty. III (252), tied by "San Francisco, Cal. Nov. 5, 5:30 PM 96" circular datestamp and duplex numeral oval grid on cover to San Francisco, W. Frese & Co. San Francisco corner card, receiving backstamp of the following dayVERY FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE COVER FRANKED WITH THE CLIPPERTON ISLAND PRIVATE FRANKING STAMP.
Clipperton Island lies 670 miles southwest of Mexico in the eastern Pacific Ocean. It was an important source of guano fertilizer and home to 150-200 miners at the time the Clipperton Island stamp was issued for use on mail carried from the island to San Francisco. This cover entered the mails at San Francisco and is additionally franked with the proper 2c U.S. postage for a local drop rate. Very few Clipperton Island covers are known.
