Mar. 14" circular datestamp on "Official Business." cover to the Postmaster of George's Creek S.C., incl. original enclosure regarding the issuance of the 1869 Pictorial Issue and describing them in detail as well as Public Notice No. 26 regarding free franking privileges, cover with trivial small tear at top, Very Fine, a scarce cover with interesting contents related to one of the most popular Classic issues of U.S. philately, in March 1869 the U.S. Post Office Department began using a left-over supply of 3c A Grill stamps (produced in August 1867)

VERY FINE. A RARE USE OF THE 1868 12-CENT Z GRILL ON A PATRIOTIC COVER TO IRELAND. THIS IS THE SECOND-EARLIEST RECORDED USE OF THIS STAMP.

Grilled issues on patriotic covers are extremely rare, since the war was over for three years before regular grilled stamp production.

With 1996 P.F. and 2002 A.P.S. certificates.
