"Bailey's Mills Flo. April 25th" (1832). Clear manuscript postmark with "6-1/4" rate on 1832 folded letter to Tallahassee, fresh and Very Fine, one of only three territorial uses from Bailey's Mills, the established rate for distances under 30 miles was 30c, the unusual 6-1/4c charge was based on circulating specie, banknotes and scrip of the time, ASCC notes that covers with this rate deserve a premium valuation, ASCC value with no premium $400.00

Bold strike of red circular datestamp with date in manuscript and matching "18-3/4" rate on folded letter datelined "Apalachicola Arsenal, Chattahoochee Florida 1843" to "Maj. G. Wright, 8th Infantry U.S. Army, Comdg Fort Brooke, Tampa E.F.", with "via Savannah & Pilatkia" directive and "On Service", letter is from a surgeon reporting an egregious offense, his description of said offense includes a corporal of the guard had "the audacity to request my wife to meet him clandestinely the next night", the "scoundrel was confined" and he requests that another guard "who has proper notions of morality and propriety" be sent in his place, file folds, Very Fine and fascinating

"Lipona Florida August 19" (1832). Manuscript postmark with matching "Free" on 1832 folded letter datelined "Wascissia Augt. 16th 32" from James Gadsden to Saml. Gouverneur, the postmaster in New York City, contents includes one page to Gouverneur and also a copy of contents sent by Gadsden to President Jackson (Gouverneur's father-in-law), minor splitting along folds, Very Fine, perhaps two examples of this manuscript postmark are recorded, Lipona's post office was established in 1828 on the 10,000-acre plantation of Prince Achile Murat, a nephew of Napoleon and exiled son of the King of Naples, ASCC value $1,000.00
