Due to its size, this issue is usually found with faults. This sound example with choice centering is a true condition rarity.

Original gum, deep rich colors and detailed impressions, choice centering, tiny corner crease at bottom left is of little consequenceVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE RARE $5.00 PROPRIETARY ON VIOLET PAPER. A GREAT CONDITION RARITY FOR THE ISSUE.
Examples of the $5.00 Proprietary Issue almost invariably have faults, due to the stamp's large size and the nature of its use. The example offered here, with full original gum and with only a tiny negligible corner crease, is probably the finest extant.

$1.00 Green & Black on Green Paper, Proprietary (RB9b). Disturbed original gum, deep rich colors, light natural gum bend above Washington's headVERY FINE AND CHOICE. THE ONLY KNOWN ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 PROPRIETARY ISSUE ON GREEN PAPER. ONE OF THE GREAT RARITIES OF REVENUE COLLECTING.
Larry Lyons lists seven used examples in his census. The example offered here was not included in his census. This is the only unused example, and one of only two sound copies in existence.
With 1996 P.S.E. and 2005 P.F. certificates. Scott Retail as used $10,000.00 is not relevant -- this stamp realized $32,500 hammer in our Sale 902 in 2005.
$5.00 Green & Black on Green Paper, Proprietary (RB10b). Well-centered, deep rich color on unmistakably green paper, neat "PH #1 July 9/79" manuscript cancellation and also signed, negligible thin spot at top center is barely visible except in fluidEXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS BY FAR THE FINEST OF THE THREE RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE $5.00 PROPRIETARY ON GREEN PAPER. ONLY FIFTY $5.00 STAMPS WERE EVER ISSUED ON GREEN PAPER. A WORLD-CLASS RARITY.
In his privately published census, Larry Lyons records only two certified examples of the $5.00 Proprietary on Green paper. The stamp offered here is a third certified copy, which may have been overlooked by Mr. Lyons as it was submitted to The Philatelic Foundation as a variety. Both of the other known copies of this stamp are repaired, and one is reperforated. This is the first we have offered since our 2000 Zoellner sale, when we last offered this copy.
