THIS IS THE ONLY EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1856 ISSUE WITH THE YANKEE JIM'S DATESTAMP CANCEL. EXAMPLES USED FROM ANY POST OFFICE OTHER THAN NEW ORLEANS ARE SCARCE, AND THIS PAIR FROM THE WEST COAST IS RARE.

The cancels do not obscure the recut lines on the right stamp in this magnificent pair.
