3c Orange Brown, Ty. I (10). Position 31R1i, margins all around incl. interpane margin and Centerline at left, wonderful crisp color with a neat green circular datestamp (possibly Richmond), Very Fine and choice, rare with a green cancel, with 2012 P.F. certificate as No. 10A
3c Orange Brown, Ty. I, II (10-10A). 24 used singles, about half four margins, others much better than plating quality with many attractive, incl. "gash on shoulder", eleven with small Boston "Paid" grid, blue straightline "PAID", red grid, blue and black hollow stars in circle, railroad, bottom right pane corner margin, pane centerline, etc., Fine-Very Fine lot, two with 2012 P.F. certificates
3c Dull Red, Ty. I, II (11-11A). Eight part imprint singles (one in horizontal pair with regular stamp), three left, five right, incl. shades, variety of cancels and at least two different plates, overall condition Fine, scarce lot for the specialist
3c Dull Red, Ty. I (11). Vertical strip of four, three large to huge margins, ample to just clear at right, each with Chicopee Mass. 6-Point Star of David cancel, Fine-Very Fine, desirable fancy cancel and exceedingly scarce as a multiple, Scott Retail for ordinary used strip of three and single $155.00
3c Dull Red, Ty. II (11A). Jumbo margins incl. part of five adjoining stamps, rich color, bold circular datestamp, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2012 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; SMQ $550.00 as 98, unpriced in higher grade)
3c Pale Rose Red, Ty. II (11A). Position 100L5L, ample to huge margins incl. bottom right corner interpane margin, brilliant color nicely complemented by blue circular datestamp, Very Fine and choice, a marvelous position piece
3c Brownish Carmine, Ty. II (11A). Three large margins, in at bottom, tied by "San Francisco Cal. 1 Apr." circular datestamp on small buff piece with perfectly struck red "Honolulu U.S. Postage Paid Feb. 21" circular datestamp, pencil 1853 date on back, Very Fine, scarce Hawaiian usage, with 2002 P.F. certificate
3c Dull Red, Ty. II (11A). Two items, first is two average singles on piece tied by red "Lou. & Cin. S.B. Mail Line" circular datestamp, other is Fine single on piece tied by perfect bold strike of balloon style "Louisville & Cincinnati/Mail Line Jan. 8" circular datestamp, beautiful appearance, scarce pair of steamboat cancellations
3c Plum, Ty. II (11A). Three ample to large margins, clear at top, neat circular datestamp, Fine, interesting shade and one of the rarest of all the 3c 1851-57 Issues, with 2011 P.F. certificate
3c Experimental Orange Brown, Ty. II (11A var). Large to full margins incl. right sheet margin, bright shade beautifully complemented by blue "Paid" grid cancel of Winthrop Me., Very Fine, with 2010 P.F. certificate
3c Dull Red, Ty. I, Chicago Perf 12-1/2 (11 var.). Partial (Chi)cago (S)ep 1 (1)856 yeardate circular datestamp, top margin trimmed, affordable example of this rare experimental perforation, with 2007 small photocopy certificate signed Robert Hegland
3c Brownish Carmine, Ty. II, Chicago Perf 12-1/2 (11A var). Tied by "Chicago Ill. Jan 5 1857" circular datestamp on small piece, rich color, small tear at top center, small crease at right and slightly rounded top right corner, still a rare example of this classic perforation variety, with 1996 P.F. certificate not mentioning any flaws
5c Red Brown (12). Enormous margins all around incl. part of adjoining stamp at bottom, deep rich color and proof-like impression on bright paper, neat strike of New Orleans circular datestampEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING USED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1856 ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E.
With 2008 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $4,250.00). Only three have graded higher (all at 98J) and only three others share this desirable grade.
5c Red Brown (12). Rich color, full margins to touching at left, lightly cancelled, appears unused, small dealer backstamp, Fine
5c Red Brown (12). Vertical pair, large margins to clear, rich color on bright paper, neat strike of 1857 New Orleans circular datestamp, bottom stamp natural paper inclusion, Very Fine, vertical pairs are far scarcer than horizontal, with 1990 P.F. certificate
10c Green, Ty. II (14). Three huge margins, large at right, magnificent depth of color with clear impression, light circular datestamp, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2013 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $650.00), light pencil Position "71R" on back
10c Ty. II, III (14, 15). 20 used stamps, incl. two Ty. II strips of four, vertical combination Ty. II & III pair, five centerline singles and five singles, several sound but most clear to close or cut in on side, Very Good-Very Fine appearance, useful for plating
10c Green, Ty. IV (16). Position 55L1, recut at bottom, large to full margins, rich color on bright paper, light strike of magenta cancelEXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL STAMP AND ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE MAGENTA CANCELLATION.
With 2009 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90; SMQ $3,600.00 for normal cancel). Scott Retail with no premium for the magenta cancel (which is unlisted in Scott)
10c Green, Ty. IV (16). Position 55L1, recut at bottom, full margins to clear at right, slightly clipped bottom right corner but well clear of design, "31 Oct." Halloween-dated circular datestamp, Very Fine, with 1975 P.F. certificate
12c Black (17). Huge margins incl. part of seven adjoining stamps, bright shade and crisp impression, neat strikes of grid cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A PHENOMENAL USED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1851 ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED SUPERB 98 JUMBO BY P.S.E.
With 2006 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $2,900.00 as 98). Only three have graded higher.

12c Black (17). Ample to clear margins, town cancel and traces of green transit cancel, visible in Washington's hair and at lower left, light vertical creases, Fine appearance, while not a strong strike, green cancels are extremely rare on this issue, Jim Allen in his census in the Sesquecentennial book records only three examples, with 2012 P.F. certificate
12c Black (17). Block of four, huge margins to barely in, intense shade, light central strike of circular datestamp, Fine, rare used block, ex Anderson, with 1985 P.F. certificate
