Two registered covers, first is horizontal pair (natural s.e. right), latter single, all tied by Postal Agency Shanghai China double ovals (blurry strikes as usually seen), C1 with nice corner card, C2 with seldom seen purple boxed "Supposed Liable To United States Customs Duties", 1919 and 1920 usages respectively, C2 cover light creases, very scarce lot, these Air Post stamps probably just paid the ordinary postage and registry rates and did not receive air mail service

Nicely centered, tiny scuff, on beautiful multicolor soldier's mail framed with holly leaves and berries and mistletoe (?), patriotic shield and crest, tied by "U.S. Military Express Postal Service" double circle with interior date of Oct, 25, 1918, purple censor's handstamp, light creasing and bottom right corner rounded, also incl. No. C3 on cover addressed to a U.S. Military Mechanic in France, tied by "Postal Express Service" double circle with interior date of Jan. 10, 1919, this evidently is a "hand back" souvenir as there are no other markings on the cover, very scarce lot nonetheless

5c Beacon (C11). Massive collection and accumulation of virtually all covers, partially mounted in five volumes, others in various envelopes, incl. First Flights, FAM's, Zeppelins, Special Events, Crash Cover, Memorial Airship Akron crash cover signed by three of the survivors (reportedly only ten prepared), 1929 "Yellowbird" Record Flight, and more, the unused stamps include some plate blocks plus an interesting page of vignette shifts, several are really severe and should be eagerly sought after by buyers of this collecting area, virtually all Fine-Very Fine, while far from being entirely mounted, this is easily the most comprehensive specialized offering of this stamp we have ever seen, impossible to duplicate

Sale 1003, Lot 5067, Air Post and Flight Covers (Scott C1-C11, Byrd, Roessler)1927, June 27 -- Byrd Transatlantic Flight (AAMC 1060). Congressional corner card cover to Paris, France, with original enclosure, "Official Business-Free" crossed out and with two 10c Special Delivery (E12) affixed over the "M.C." part of free frank, stamps uncancelled and no postal markings as is often the case, endorsed "Via U.S. Trans-Atlantic Air Mail First Flight Commander Byrd Pilot 'America'" and signed R.E. Byrd on front and back, Very Fine, this is one of the few pieces of mail from the "America" to retain its stamp after the plane was forced to touch down off the coast of France, lot includes photograph of "America"

Oct. 28, 1928" duplexes on cover with picture cachet depicting Graf Zeppelin flying over the Statue of Liberty, Friedrichshafen backstamp, the well-known Air Mail dealer A.C. Roessler applied this cinderella overprint and was charged by postal authorities with issuing counterfeit stamps, as a first offender he was given probation on the condition that he retire from the stamp business, he died a few years later in a mental institution, interesting item
