Only 174 were sold. Most tend to be significantly off center on two sides. With 1992 and 2003 P.F. certificates

Only 141 were sold. A Power Search review shows that the centering on the example offered here is typical -- very few are known with decent centering and without faults.

$1.92 Dark Brown, 1875 Special Printing (PR48). Without gum as issued, deep rich color on bright paper, well-proportioned margins, accompanying certificate notes "small black ink mark" which we see only using magnification at upper leftVERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE $1.92 NEWSPAPER CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTING. ONLY 41 WERE SOLD.
The $1.92 value of the 1875 Continental Newspaper Special Printing marks the start of the rarities of the set. We have offered only ten unduplicated examples in all of our Rarities sales going back to 1964 and in our regular auctions going back to 1994.

60c Pink, 1894 Issue (PR98). Original gum, narrow portion of selvage adhering to gum along right edge, rich color, typical centering for this difficult issueFINE EXAMPLE OF THE 60-CENT 1894 NEWSPAPERS AND PERIODICALS ISSUE. ONLY EIGHTEEN UNUSED EXAMPLES ARE CONTAINED IN OUR RECORDS AND THIS IS ONE OF ONLY THREE EXAMPLES CONFIRMED AS SOUND.
Our census of PR98, available at https://siegelauctions.com/census/us/scott/PR98 , contains eighteen unused and five used examples. Of the unused examples, only three are confirmed as sound, including the stamp offered here and one which has a straight edge at top.

Approximately 90 mostly different unused stamps, 1875 Issue to $36.00, six of the 1875 Special Printings (all with certificates), 1879 Issue complete to the $60.00, 1883 Issue PR80, 1894-95 Issues including PR94 and PR112, some with original gum, majority no gum or regummed, some faults (mostly small), Fine-Very Fine appearance, twelve certificates accompany, even the most conservative method of cataloguing would come to a value over $30,000.00
