Painted metal box with Blood's advertisement printed across front and sides in what appears to be enamel, with drop slot at top, advertisement notes "Five Deliveries Daily" and some terms for carrying such as "Blood's Penny Post will neither receive nor deliver Money, Jewelry, or other articles of intrinsic value, and the Proprietors will in no case hold themselves responsible for such articles", some enamel chipped away at bottom, still Very Fine, outstanding collateral item and the ultimate display piece for a Local Post collection
San Francisco/City Letter Express. Ornately framed rectangular handstamp struck in blue on yellow cover addressed in ink to "Col., Warren, Mason & Pacific" and with pencil street address, extensive docketing on back, small tears at top from opening, Very Fine strike of this scarce San Francisco local, ex Haas
California City Letter Express Co., San Francisco, 10c Green, Type II (33L6). Unused (no gum), margins to in, rich color, tiny tear at top, small corner crease at top rightFINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF THREE RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE 10-CENT GREEN TYPE II STAMP -- THIS IS A NEWLY-DISCOVERED COPY AND OFFERED AT AUCTION FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Our records contain only two other examples of 33L6: an unused stamp offered in our Golden Sale 817, and the patriotic cover also offered in the Golden sale.

Eagle City Post, Philadelphia Pa., (2c) Black, Tete-Beche (61L2a). Block of 18 with nine Type A/B repetitions containing four tete-beche pairs, original gum causing some creasing and toning, large margins except at a few spots where touched or slightly into points, one stamp has small pinholeVERY FINE. THE LARGEST RECORDED MULTIPLE OF THE EAGLE CITY POST STAMP. A REMARKABLE BLOCK, CONTAINING FOUR TETE-BECHE PAIRS.
The Eagle City Post sheets comprised two types, arranged in a vertical pair that was repeated throughout the sheet: Type A with 39 points around the border; and Type B with 46 points. The make-up of this block is shown in the illustration below. Both types have the misspelling "Chesnut". The earliest 61L2 cover is dated Oct. 1, 1846, with the stamp tied by pen and a small red "Paid" handstamp, signed Perry (Robson Lowe sale, Mar. 1, 1973, lot 1766).

Block of eight, original gum, rich color, few toned spots and light creases mostly between stamps causing some paper breaks, small scissors-cuts between stamps in placesEXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS BY FAR THE LARGEST RECORDED MULTIPLE OF THE BROWN FLOYD'S PENNY POST STAMP. IT IS POSSIBLY THE LARGEST UNUSED MULTIPLE OF ANY FLOYD'S PENNY POST ISSUE.
