This issue is listed and collected as a top or bottom plate block of four or six. Top plate blocks of six in Mint N.H. condition are very rare -- we have offered only two others since 2005. This plate block of eight is the largest Mint N.H. plate number multiple listed in Power Search.
50c Trans-Mississippi (291). Mint N.H. bottom imprint and plate no. 603 strip of five with corner sheet selvage and half arrow at right, brilliant color and detailed impressionVERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER PIECE OF THE 50-CENT TRANS-MISSISSIPPI ISSUE.
This was held for generations after being purchased at the post office in the 1890s. A plate strip is an excellent alternative to a Mint N.H. plate block of this issue, which catalogues $70,000.00. We have not offered another imprint and plate number strip in any condition in more than 25 years.
