2c-15c China Clay Paper Varieties (332 var / 340 var). Twelve items, incl. three singles of 2c and one of 4c, blocks of four of 3c, 4c (2, each with plate no. and part imprint), 5c, 8c (top plate no. and part imprint), 10c, 13c and 15c (right plate no. and part imprint), rich colors on paper which looks to us to be a slightly different shade than normal, few small flaws, Fine-Very Fine and scarce group, accompanied by 1c on Bluish paper on postcard for comparison, many ex Dos Passos, eight with P.F. certificates specifying they are China Clay paper, the 13c with certificate stating it is normal, this lot is offered on its own merits due to the controversial nature of China Clay paper -- because of the White-Liston controversy, the P.F. will no longer certify these, although all experts agree they are printed on distinctive paper
