3c Rose, Ty. I (25). Position 51L4, with left selvage showing part imprint and mirror image plate number "4", tied by "Newark N.J. Nov. 10 1857" circular datestamp on small cover to Vernon N.J., stamp with faults and cover with light soiling, otherwise Fine and very rare, this Plate 4 plate number was entered as a mirror image to the normal right-reading plate number on the right pane, according to the Chase book only the left pane of Plate 4, Plate 9 and the "4" in Plate 14 were engraved in mirror image, we have offered a similar example of the 3c imperforate from Plate 4 (see Wagshal Sale 996, lot 3073) but we have not encountered another example of this scarcer Type I perforated, with 2018 P.F. certificate

Right imprint and Plate No. 20 block of twelve, at least eight stamps Mint N.H. including the top and bottom blocks of four, h.r. in imprint reinforcing some perf separations, fresh color, centering is quite attractive for this very tightly spaced issue, Fine-Very Fine, Scott Retail as hinged plate block of eight and four singles
