1c Blue, Ty. Ib (5A). Position 9R1E, large margins which clearly show the key design characteristics, outstanding early impression, blue cork cancel, tiny thin spot in Franklin's hairVERY FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 1851 ONE-CENT IMPERFORATE TYPE Ib.
Type Ib comes from only six positions on Plate 1E: Positions 3-6, 8 and 9R1E.
1c Blue, Ty. Ib (5A). Position 9R1E, full margins to barely touched, light strike of blue circular datestamp, certificate mentions some faint toned spots on vignette which are tiny and can be seen with the aid of a glassFRESH AND FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 1851 ONE-CENT IMPERFORATE TYPE Ib.
Type Ib comes from only six positions on Plate 1E: Positions 3-6, 8 and 9R1E. With 2013 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. Ic (6b). Position 82R4, three ample to large margins, slightly in at right, beautiful intense Plate 4 color, unobtrusive face-free cancel, accompanying certificate notes corner crease at bottom right which is all but invisible, still an attractive example of this scarce type, with 2000 P.S.E. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Mount glazed original gum, huge margins to just in at top incl. portion of adjoining stamp at bottom, bright color, light corner crease, appears Fine
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Plate 1 Early, huge to enormous margins incl. top sheet margin and adjoining stamps on other three sides, gorgeous color and impression, well-struck small Boston "Paid" grid cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, a phenomenal stamp, with 2011 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Huge margins incl. significant portion of adjoining stamp at right, rich color, neat strike of circular datestamp, Extremely Fine Gem, accompanied by cover and part of adjoining stamp, with 2009 P.F. certificate

Positions 83-84L1E, horizontal pair, large margins including portion of adjoining stamp at left, bright shade, cancelled by grids applied with watery writing ink, trivial corner crease at top right, still Extremely Fine, ex Newbury as a strip of three and Wagshal as this pair, with 2010 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Positions 86-87L1E, horizontal pair, huge margins showing bits of adjoining stamps to just touched, deep shade, cancelled by clear strike of "Prov. & Stonington R.R. Dec. 23" route agent's circular datestamp, tiny natural inclusion at left, Very Fine, ex Wagshal, with 2010 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Vertical pair, Positions 2/12R2, large to mostly huge margins, rich color, Philadelphia Pa. circular datestamps, natural fiber inclusion dropout on top stamp, otherwise Extremely Fine Gem, with 2012 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $800.00 per stamp), the basis of the grade on the certificate is for a sound pair without the fiber dropout, bottom stamp is sound
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Block of four, Positions 11-12/21-22R2, large to huge margins except slightly in at top of top left stamp, pane margin at left and parts of adjoining stamps at right, rich color, neat Chicasawatchee Ga. "balloon" type circular datestamp, tiny corner crease at bottom left, Very Fine-Extremely Fine appearance, attractive and very scarce used block, ex Hollowbush and Koppersmith, with 1988 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. II-IIIa-II (7-8A-7). Positions 52-54L1E, horizontal strip of three, ample margins to just in, lovely Plate 1 Early shade, blue town cancels, Fine, with 1978 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail as pair of Ty. II-IIIa and single Ty. II
1c Blue, Ty. III (8). Deep rich Plate 4 color, large margins to clear, face-free cancel, two small thin spots and faint vertical crease, Very Fine appearance
1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Plate 4, disturbed original gum, margins all around except just into frameline at bottom, deep rich color, small diagonal crease, Very Fine appearance, an attractive example of this type and difficult to find in unused condition with original gum, with 1992 P.F. certificate as disturbed original gum and not mentioning the crease, with 2013 P.F. certificate as part original gum
1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Position 61L4, large to huge margins incl. "(Bo)ston & Cincinnati" part imprint at left, deep rich Plate 4 color with a light virtually face-free circular datestamp, appears to have breaks at both top and bottom (Ty. III) but plates as Ty. IIIaEXTREMELY FINE. ONE OF THE FEW EXAMPLES KNOWN OF THE ONE-CENT 1851 IMPERFORATE FROM PLATE 4 SHOWING ANY PART OF THE IMPRINT.
The Neinken book states "Stamps from Plate 4 showing part of the imprint are rare. Ashbrook states that he has never seen an imperforate vertical pair with the imprint..." (p. 277)." A review with Power Search shows we have offered three unused and three used since keeping computerized records. This is likely the finest of the used copies.
1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Plate 4, E Relief, large margins to full, deep rich color and proof-like impression on bright paper, neat strike of circular datestamp, fresh and Extremely Fine, a pretty stamp, with 1993 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Positions 58-59R4, horizontal pair, huge margins including parts of adjacent stamps at left and right, full at bottom right, deep rich Plate 4 color, boldly struck Mount Carmel circular datestamp cancels, left stamp has small corner crease at top left, crease in extreme right margin (easily trimmed leaving a huge margin), Very Fine-Extremely Fine, from our 2000 Rarities sale, with 2000 A.P.S. certificate, Scott prices a pair from the scarcer Plate 4 the same as a pair from Plate 1E, despite the $300 difference in price for singles from those plates
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Position 74L1L, huge margins incl. part of adjoining stamps at top and bottom, deep rich color with unobtrusive circular datestamp, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2013 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $1,200.00 as 98), this is one of only two in this grade with eight higher (Jumbos)
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Recut once at top and bottom, huge margins all around incl. part of three adjoining stamps, bright shade, bold grid cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $1,200.00 as 98)
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Position 65R1L, huge margins incl. part of four adjoining stamps, rich color, bold circular datestamps, Extremely Fine Gem, a gorgeous stamp
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Recut once at top and twice at bottom, large to huge margins incl. top sheet margin and part of adjoining stamp at bottom, face-free town cancel, Extremely Fine, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90 Jumbo; SMQ $275.00 as 90, $675.00 as 95)
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Pos. 52L1L, recut twice at bottom and twice at top (only two positions recut as such), large to huge margins, neat face-free town cancel, bright shade, Extremely Fine, very scarce, ex Koppersmith and Dr. Morris, with 1977 and 1995 P.F. certificates
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Large to huge margins, attractive pastel color, bold strike of "FREE" straightline handstamp, chemically cleaned and small paper break caused by cancel, otherwise Extremely Fine, with 2008 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Position 41L1L, large margins to just touched, intense color and impression, cancelled solely by French datestamp, Very Fine and choice, with 1996 and 2008 P.F. certificates
10c Green, Ty. III (15). Horizontal pair, used on piece with 1c Blue, Ty. IV (9), ample to huge margins, tied by bold New Orleans circular datestamps, left 10c also just tied by red New York transit, Very Fine and attractive
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Positions 66-67R1L, horizontal pair, large to huge margins, attractive color with very light circular datestamp and cork cancels (hardly noticeable on left stamp), Extremely Fine, with 2012 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ does not price pairs)

Positions 91-92L1L, horizontal pair, left stamp triple transfer one inverted, large and even margins, radiant color, neat strikes of blue circular datestamp, Extremely Fine, a beautiful pair, the left stamp shows classic plate scratches at bottom as illustrated in the Neinken book on p. 166
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Two singles and two horizontal pairs, mostly plated, large to huge margins all around except left stamp of one pair slightly cut in, overall Very Fine-Extremely Fine
