Brilliant color, outstanding centering, neat wavy-line machine cancel, slight thin and small creases, Extremely Fine appearance and very rare genuinely used, we have offered only one other used example of this issue in more than 12 years and virtually every example off cover we have been able to locate has a fault, this example is better centered than the one offered in our Natalee Grace collection, a great unheralded rarity of 20th Century used collecting, with 2011 P.F. certificate

5c Carmine, Imperforate, Error (485). Single Mint N.H. error in a strip of three with two normal 2c stamps, beautiful large margins all around including part of three adjoining stamps, brilliant colorEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT CARMINE IMPERFORATE ERROR IN A STRIP OF THREE WITH TWO NORMAL 2-CENT STAMPS.
During the course of production of the normal 2c plate No. 7942, three positions were noted to be defective. The plate was returned to the siderographer, who burnished out the three positions and mistakenly re-entered them using a transfer roll for the 5c stamp. The error passed unnoticed and the sheets were issued to the public Perf 10, Imperforate and Perf 11 (Scott 467, 485 and 505). The imperforate is by far the rarest of the three.
