2c Carmine, Ty. I (463). Radiant color as fresh as the day it was printed, mathematically precise centering with wide and balanced margins, neat machine cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb stamp in every respect, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $350.00 as 98), this is the highest grade awarded and only one other shares this grade
4c Orange Brown (465). Mint N.H., bright shade, wide margins, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2013 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $650.00)
5c Carmine, Error (467). Mint N.H. single in strip of three with two normal 2c, brilliant color, unusually choice centering, Extremely Fine Gem, with 1991 P.F. certificate for double error in block of twelve, Scott Retail as single error not in multiple with any 2c stamps

Top plate no. 6909 block of six, approx. half of narrow selvage gummed, including over plate no., large central area of hinging with small thin spot from removal, three stamps on sides Mint N.H., well-centered, Very Fine appearance, a very scarce plate block, we have offered only one other (side position) since 1993
30c Orange Red, Perf 10 (476A). Position 4 from Plate No. 6911, Mint N.H., vivid color on post-office fresh paperFRESH AND FINE EXAMPLE OF THE VERY RARE 30-CENT PERF 10 WASHINGTON-FRANKLIN ON UNWATERMARKED PAPER.
The 30c Perf 10 Unwatermarked, Scott 476A, has no trace of the single-line watermark. Although one or two stamps from the discovery sheets have been found with "ghost" watermarks, the Scott Catalogue and The Philatelic Foundation continue to recognize Scott 476A.
With 1984 and 2002 P.F. certificates.
30c Orange Red, Perf 10 (476A). Left margin single, intense colorFINE. A VERY RARE 30-CENT PERF 10 WASHINGTON-FRANKLIN ON UNWATERMARKED PAPER.
The 30c Perf 10 Unwatermarked, Scott 476A, has no trace of the single-line watermark. Although one or two stamps from the discovery sheets have been found with "ghost" watermarks, the Scott Catalogue and The Philatelic Foundation continue to recognize Scott 476A. This example, with wide selvage showing no trace of the watermark, is very desirable.

Lewis Kaufman records only nine top and four bottom plate blocks of Scott 478. Scott Catalogue value has remained largely unchanged over the past 25 years -- this catalogued $13,000.00 when one was offered in our 1986 Rarities sale.

This is a surprisingly difficult issue to find as a Mint N.H. wide top plate block.
5c Carmine, Imperforate, Error (485). Mint N.H. double error in block of twelve, large margins all around including part of few adjoining stamps, brilliant colorEXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT DOUBLE ERROR IN AN IMPERFORATE BLOCK OF TWELVE.
During the course of production of the normal 2c plate No. 7942, three positions were noted to be defective. The plate was returned to the siderographer, who burnished out the three positions and mistakenly re-entered them using a transfer roll for the 5c stamp. The error passed unnoticed and the sheets were issued to the public Perf 10, Imperforate and Perf 11 (Scott 467, 485 and 505). The imperforate is by far the rarest of the three.

3c Violet, Ty. II, Imperforate (484). Mint N.H. pane of 100 with plate no. blocks at top and left, bottom right stamp clipped corner, otherwise fresh and Very Fine, Scott Retail as plate blocks and singles
2c Carmine, Ty. II, Coil (491). Pair, radiant color and detailed impression, attractive margins and centering, right stamp with small thin spotVERY FINE APPEARING PAIR OF THE RARE 2-CENT TYPE II PERF 10 HORIZONTAL COIL ON UNWATERMARKED PAPER.
Unlike most other issues, the horizontal coil is actually scarcer than the vertical coil. It was in production for only a short period of time before being replaced by the Type III, Scott 492.

2c Carmine, Ty. II, Coil (491). Bright color, margins to touched, slightly blunted perfs at lower left, small natural gum crease, otherwise Fine, with 2013 P.F. certificate
2c Carmine, Ty. II, Coil (491). Strip of three, bright color, St. Louis Mo. oval cancels, end stamps each with small corner creases (really minor)FINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE USED MULTIPLE OF THE 2-CENT TYPE II ROTARY PRESS COIL ISSUE.
Unlike many other issues, the horizontal coil is actually scarcer than the vertical coil. It was in production for only a short period of time before being replaced by the Type III, Scott 492.
