Jun. 29" circular datestamp on homemade cover written in the hand of Brigadier General Montgomery Dent Corse to his wife in Taylorsville Va., small toned spot in margin between stamps, still Very Fine, General Corse commanded the 17th Virginia Infantry and then Corse's Brigade of Pickett's Division, Longstreet's Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, Corse saw action in many engagements and according to Wikipedia he "was captured at the Battle of Sayler's Creek on April 6, 1865. After his surrender, General Corse was conveyed to Fort Warren near Boston, Massachusetts, on the day that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, and he and the fourteen generals accompanying him narrowly escaped the violence of a mob at a town in Pennsylvania on the next morning. They were only saved by the determination of their small guard of Union soldiers and officers"

Horizontal block of eight and pair, large margins almost all around, tied by manuscript cross strokes, matching "Wahalok Sept. 14th" Mississippi manuscript postmark on brown legal-size cover to Brig. Gen. J.V. Harris at Columbus Miss., left hand vertical pair with ink stain and faults, ink erosion affects most other stamps, the cover is without one backflap and has been reduced all around (flaps held in place), nonetheless an extremely rare and presentable cover, bearing one of the largest multiples of the 2c Engraved, ex Antrim, Nielsen and Keeling, illustrated in Brian Green's The Confederate States Two-Cent Red Jack Intaglio Stamp, with 1997 P.S.E. certificate

10c Blue, Die A, B (11-12). Two covers, both with singles tied by Charleston S.C. circular datestamps and addressed to Gustavus A. Myers in Richmond Va., both endorsed at bottom "Pr Walker", fresh and Very Fine, these were long thought to be incoming blockade-run covers from Bermuda, signed by Major Norman S. Walker, however old research in the Confederate Philatelist rediscovered by Patricia Kaufmann clearly indicates that these were signed by Henry Pickney Walker, the Acting British Consul in Charleston S.C. from 1861-63, they are therefore not blockade-run covers but are still unusual examples of British consulate mail within the Confederacy

Henry King Burgwyn Jr. at Garysburg N.C., Extremely Fine stamp and cover, "Boy" Col. Burgwyn was appointed a Confederate officer on the recommendation of his VMI professor, Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, he was killed when his 26th North Carolina engaged the Iron Brigade in Herbst's Woods on July 1, 1863, at Gettysburg, Burgwyn was shot through both lungs while carrying the colors of the 26th, he was 21 years old

Gen. J. Johnston Pettigrew, Richmond, Extremely Fine, Pettigrew was one of the three division commanders in the disastrous July 3, 1863 "Pickett's Charge" at Gettysburg, he was wounded during the assault and then wounded again during the Confederate retreat, dying on July 17, 1863, this cover never reached him as it was datestamped the day after he died
