BANGKOK, 1883, 4c Brown (14; SG 17). Block of fifteen, original gum, h.r. between positions 3 and 4, other thirteen stamps Mint N.H., excellent centering, bright shade, bottom left stamp with light pencil note on gumVERY FINE. A SCARCE MULTIPLE OF THE 4-CENT BROWN OVERPRINT CONTAINING THIRTEEN NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLES. SELDOM ENCOUNTERED IN BLOCKS OF THIS SIZE.

CANADA, 1851, 6p Slate Violet, Laid Paper (2; SG 2). Large part original gum, four large to ample margins including a part of sheet margin at right, rich color and outstanding proof-like impression on bright fresh paper which displays the distinctive laid lines exceptionally well, just the slightest trace of an inconsequential paper indentation at centerEXTREMELY FINE. A MAGNIFICENT ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 6-PENCE ON LAID PAPER. LIKELY THE FINEST EXAMPLE IN EXISTENCE.
The 1851 6p Prince Albert issue on laid paper is one of Canada's rarest and most difficult stamps to obtain in unused condition. Very few unused examples exist, and even fewer have any portion of original gum. Completely sound unused examples are of even greater rarity. In fact, a thorough review of past famous name sales of important Canadian stamps reveals no other example that competes with this remarkable stamp.

CANADA, 1857, 6p Slate Violet, Wove Paper, Diagonal Half Used as 3p (5c; SG 9a). Bottom right diagonal half, large margins, beautifully tied across the cut by "Quebec L.C. OC 6 1858" circular datestamp (as well as two small manuscript lines) on folded cover to Montreal, matching manuscript "3" rate next to bisected stamp, red "Steamboat Letter Quebec OC 6, 1858" circular datestamp at left, Montreal arrival backstamp, couple of unobtrusive light bleach spots on coverVERY FINE. A HANDSOME AND EXTREMELY RARE BISECTED USE OF THE 6-PENCE SLATE VIOLET ON WOVE PAPER. A HIGHLY EXHIBITABLE COVER.
