Block of five, used with single $3.00 Manifest Imperforate (R86a), strip of three $1.00 Conveyance Imperforate (R66a) and singles $5.00 Mortgage Imperforate (R91a), $10.00 Conveyance Imperforate (R94a) and 50c Passage Ticket Perforated (R61c), all with 1867 manuscript cancels on mortgage deed from Multnomah County Oregon, deed is dated Feb. 20, 1867 for a value of $8,000, single R86a has a tear but otherwise the stamps are in nice condition, some minor document edge wear, Very Fine and extremely rare, this is the largest recorded multiple of R86a, the Curtis census records two blocks of four, this document has been off the market for 50 years or more and was unknown to the late Mr. Curtis

Only 1,430 were issued imperforate. A review using Power Search found only two others that compare favorably to the example offered here.

Block of 27, large margins to barely touched in one or two spots, neat Oct. 27, 1863 manuscript cancels, radiant color, few wrinkles and creases to be expected on such a large multiple, one stamp with 18mm tearVERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS HALF-SHEET OF 27 OF THE $20.00 PROBATE OF WILL IS BY FAR THE LARGEST RECORDED MULTIPLE. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECES IN ALL OF REVENUE COLLECTING.
This spectacular block is accompanied by a 6-page manuscript indenture (deed) for the Almaden Quicksilver Mine, selling the mine to the Quicksilver Mining Co. for $1,750,000. The multiple was originally affixed to the document.
