HAWAII, Honolulu March 7th 1843. Dateline on folded letter to Miss Mary Knapp in Round Hill Conn., sender is the recipient's brother, Horton Owen Knapp (1813-1845), who arrived in Hawaii as part of the eighth company on the Mary Frasier from Boston on April 9, 1837, fantastic contents incl. "These islands have recently ceded over to Queen Victoria and we are now under the British Flag. Lord George Paulit, Captain of the British frigate 'Carysfort' took possession on the 25th February in the name of Her Britain's Majesty Queen Victoria. He had been here but a few days when he proceeded to this movement, and probably he would have done it sooner had the king not been absent at Maui.", the sender goes on to discuss some of the particulars of the takeover and also opines "We have some hopes, though little expectations, that the islands will ever again become independent...if they must be subject to either Great Britain or France we should prefer to be as we are under the British Flag.", end of letter states "I just now close this letter as I expect to send it by the U.S. Ship 'Boston' which is to sail tomorrow for Charleston near Boston", red "Boston Mass. Aug. 4" circular datestamp with matching "SHIP" and "20" in circle handstamps, fresh and Very Fine, a fascinating letter

HAWAII, Honolulu * U.S. Postage Paid * Feb. 16. Clear strike of circular datestamp on 1852 cover to Mrs. Mary Knapp in Round Hill Conn., red "San Francisco 6 20 Mar." integral-rate circular datestamp and "PAID" handstamp, cover originally had a 13c Missionary stamp affixed at right, probably a No. 3, carried on the American brig Noble which departed Honolulu Feb. 27, 1852 and arrived San Francisco March 16, mail from this sailing for the east coast was postmarked in San Francisco on March 20, some edgewear, some soiling especially in area where the stamp was originally affixed, Very Fine, the sender is the recipient's brother, Horton Owen Knapp (1813-1845) who arrived in Hawaii as part of the eighth company on the Mary Frasier from Boston on April 9, 1837

April 4, 1842, Nov. 7, 1842 and July 7, 1845, first datelined at Honolulu, others at Koloa, sender of first two is the recipient's sister, Charlotte, sender of the last is the recipient's daughter who had recently arrived in Hawaii, contents on the last is about her sick uncle, first with Boston, second with New Bedford and last with Providence circular datestamp, each a different rate, Fine-Very Fine, also incl. two additional contents only from 1853 from the same correspondence

HAWAII, 1864, 2c Rose Vermilion, Diagonal Half Used as 1c (31b). Bottom right half used with 1866 5c Blue (32) and tied together by cork cancels on cover to Sallie B. Small in York Pa., no Honolulu postmark, "San Francisco Paid All Jan. 8" (1871) circular datestamp, light corner crease on 5cFINE AND RARE BISECT OF THE 1864 2-CENT KAMEHAMEHA IV ISSUE USED ON COVER WITH THE 5-CENT KAMEHAMEHA V ISSUE.
In July 1870 the 6c single-letter rate to the United States was established. The 6c stamps were not available until late Spring 1871, and so the rate was made up using three 2c stamps. As the supply of 2c stamps dwindled, the post office permitted some 2c bisects to be used with 5c stamps for the 6c rate.

RYUKYU ISLANDS, 1960, 9c on 4y Brown, Air Post, Surcharge Transposed (C19c). Mint N.H. block of four with bottom selvage, additional "9c" printed in selvageEXTREMELY FINE. A RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED BLOCK OF FOUR WITH ADDITIONAL SURCHARGE IN THE SELVAGE.
This error came about due to an 8.5mm downward shift in the overprinting of a single sheet, thus reversing the order of the lines of the surcharge. This bottom selvage block beautifully demonstrates this error.
With 2014 P.S.E. certificate. Scott Retail as singles.
