Grill, centered to top which beautifully highlights the major plate crack at bottom, pinkish offset on back, Fine and unusually dramatic example of this major plate crack, the Scott U.S. Specialized Catalogue illustrates the "major plate crack at bottom" for No. 147 only (ungrilled), valued at $400.00 -- its grilled counterpart must be considerably rarer, but the catalogue only lists a "cracked plate" variety at $100.00

(not mentioning the variety) and 2011 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, VF 80; unpriced in SMQ as the silk paper variety), this variety is identified by its tiny dark silk fibers throughout the paper, visible only under magnification, it is also found on most of the other Continental printings, including the 1875 Issue, but not among the National and American printings, Scott assigns a 50% premium over the normal stamp with original gum

With 1976 P.F. and 2010 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, XF 90; SMQ $4,600.00). The blue backstamp does not detract from the beauty of the face of this stamp, but it did result in a grade reduction from 95 to 90, according to a note from P.S.E.
