7c Scarlet Vermilion, Special Printing (196). Without gum as issued, large thin spot, not the prettiest girl at the dance but she fills the space and doesn't look bad with the lights off, with 1939 A.P.S. certificate signed by John Klemann, Sidney Barrett and J. Murray Bartels

Our recently updated census records for Scott 198 contain approximately 60 certified examples. Of these, fully one-third have small flaws (mostly thin spots).

90c Dull Carmine, Special Printing (202). Without gum as issued, bright color, balanced margins on three sides, centered a bit to right but perfs well clearVERY FINE. APPROXIMATELY 41 EXAMPLES OF THE 90-CENT 1880 AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTINGS ARE KNOWN TO EXIST. THIS IS A RARE SOUND AND WELL-CENTERED EXAMPLE.
Our recently updated census records for Scott 202 contain approximately 41 certified copies. The 90c 1880 Special Printing on soft paper is notorious for its condition. Thins or more serious faults affect about half of the known examples. With the demand for Special Printings so strong, we anticipate collectors will display exuberance in bidding for this choice sound stamp.

A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 4-CENT 1883 AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTING. THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL SPECIAL PRINTINGS -- ONLY 26 ARE RECORDED.
Our census of the 4c 1883 Special Printing (available at http://www.siegelauctions.com/dynamic/census/211D/211D.pdf ) contains 26 stamps offered as No. 211D, of which 25 have been certified by The Philatelic Foundation. Post Office Department records indicate that only 26 were sold. Of the known copies, five have small faults. This stamp comes from the block of four sold in the legendary Alfred H. Caspary sale (bottom right stamp).
