Collection Balance of an Impressive Old-Time Holding. Neatly remounted on stock pages with both used and unused, ranging from early classics including unused Nos. 40, 68-69, 71 and used Nos. 13, 23, 29 (strip of three and additional strip on cover to France), 31, 36 (pair), 62B, 72, 1869 Issue to 30c, strong group of Bank Note Issues with better high values, numerous fancy cancels including New York Foreign Mail, letters, numerals and even Skull and Crossbones, some varieties such as No. 179 on Pinkish Laid Paper, Columbian Issue unused to $5.00 plus additional $1.00-$5.00 without gum, mostly unused Bureau Issues to $5.00 with additional dollar values used as well, Trans-Mississippi unused to $1.00 plus additional used $1.00 and $2.00 (2), Washington-Franklins and later commemorative and definitives to about the 1920s, also including Back-of-Book mostly unused with Air Post, Postage Dues (such as Nos. J7, J18-J19, J35, J36b and J37a), Officials (with better cancels such as Kicking Mule), Newspapers, Parcel Post complete, we notice many better items signed by renowned French experts (such as A. Brun), while there are some stamps with various faults, overall condition is far better than typically seen with some Gem examples noted throughout, careful inspection is highly encouraged

Valuable Unused Collection Balance. The collector bought from auctions and mail sales and never mounted the stamps, so they are still on the original lot cards, starts with the Bank Note issues and goes to the 1930s, the collector bought sound original-gum stamps, the large majority in Very Fine condition, though individual stamps range from Fine to Extremely Fine, strength in regular issues, including Bank Notes, Bureau issues and Washington-Franklins, the latter group with many coil pairs, also commemoratives including all of the Trans-Mississippi set, Air Post including the Graf Zeppelin set, some other Back-of-Book, also used Nos. 1 and 2 (the only used and only pre-1870 stamps in the lot), dozens of certificates, many of these were purchased for hundreds of dollars each, a highly desirable collection with outstanding resale potential

In an album and a couple stockbooks, some higher value stamps such as three No. 1 and one No. 2, specialized groups of 1c and 3c stamps from the 1851 and 1857 Issues, including shades, varieties and cancels, the collector was apparently going to specialize in the 3c stamps, as there is a Chase plating chart included (with no stamps), later stamps include a small number of unused, mixed condition
