Apr. 24 330 PM 84" duplex datestamp and grid on "Allegheny Arsenal, Pittsburgh Pa." large-size imprint cover to former Governor A. I. Boreman in Parkersburg, West Virgina, docketing at left and receiving datestamp on back, cover edge wear and tears slightly affecting 12c stamp at top, Fine appearance, an extremely rare and very impressive four-denomination War Dept. Soft Paper franking, Arthur Inghram Boreman served as the first Governor of West Virginia 1863-69, as well as a United States Senator 1869-75

I (thicker letters, "Wash" without serifs) "Port Townsend Wash. Jan. 14, 1881" Kicking Mule duplex cancel, ms. "O.B.", addressed to "Seed Growers and Merchants" in Philadelphia, some cover aging, few tears and piece added at top, 2c normal aging for a cover of this size and age, very presentable appearance, these two covers represent two of the three known franked Departmental covers with Kicking Mule cancels, rare lot
