5c Orange Brown (1b). Large to huge margins all around incl. part of adjoining stamp at left, brilliant color nicely complemented by red grid cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE IN THE DISTINCTIVE ORANGE BROWN COLOR. THIS EXTRAORDINARY STAMP HAS BEEN GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E.
With 2007 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $2,750.00). This grade is the highest awarded by P.S.E. to Scott 1b (seven used).

5c Dark Brown (1a). Ample to large margins, wonderful deep rich color and sharp impression, red grid cancel, Very Fine, with 1988 P.F. certificate
5c Orange Brown (1b). Large even margins, rich color, well-struck black grid cancel, Extremely Fine, exceedingly rare and desirable with the black grid cancel, with 2005 and 2007 P.F. certificates (XF 90; SMQ $1,350.00)
5c Brown Orange (1d). Large margins to clear, brilliant color, light strike of red cancel, Very Fine and choice example of this issue, the color is so distinctive that it has historically been classified as the Red Orange shade (and still might be, despite current P.F. opinion), with 2007 P.F. certificate
5c Red Brown (1). Large to huge margins virtually all around, lovely color and clear impression, unusual fancy red grid of small dots cancel, faint horizontal crease at top, Extremely Fine appearance, ex Caspary, with 2007 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail for ordinary red cancel
