Folded letter datelined "St. Marks May 13th 1795"and addressed to Newburyport, carried by private ship to Philadelphia where entered the post with "6/IV" Franklin mark and manuscript "Sh 26" rate, some toning, otherwise Very Fine and scarce use paying the 22c rate for 350-450 miles plus 4c ship fee

Sale 1291, Lot 20, Florida Postal History: Spanish Period1804 (Feb. 28), Bayou Sarah, Florida to Washington Penn. Folded letter datelined "Bayou Sarah Fbry. 28th 1804" to Washington Penn., with "Natchez March 7th" manuscript postmark with "25" rate, fresh and Very Fine, sent by David Bradford, a prominent leader of the Pennsylvania Whiskey Rebellion of 1794, to David Redick who was a prominent statesman and also active in the rebellion, when the rebellion was put down Bradford fled to Spanish West Florida

Folded cover addressed to "Por el Rey, Al Commandr de la Florida Oxidental", with unusual oval handstamp of shield and crown, with contents in Spanish (translation accompanies) discussing a small fleet of row boats that were taken off course and kept by the governor at Baton Rouge, cover with ink erosion in the address, otherwise Fine and scarce cover from the second Spanish administration

Sophronia Camp at Durham Conn., manuscript "PAID" in large block letters, contents from a man seeking his fortune in Florida, small sealed edge tear at top, Very Fine and very rare, there was no Spanish postal service during this period, but there was an unofficial and perhaps illegal system of American post riders, this is the listing copy of this marking, and it is the only one recorded, ex Jarrett

Folded letter datelined "Fernandina April 30th 1820" and addressed to Charleston, "St. Marys (Georgia) 2 May" manuscript postmark with "17" cents for delivery to Charleston, Very Fine and scarce use, St. Mary's handled mail from East Florida during this period when there was no formal postal system between Spanish Florida and the United States
