1c Blue, Ty. I (18). Plate 12, C Relief, choice centering for this difficult issue, radiant color, circular datestamp cancel, fresh and Extremely Fine, with copy of 1984 P.F. certificate for pair
1c Blue, Ty. Ia (19). Position 99R4, with stitch watermark, deep rich color and detailed impression, wide bottom margin shows the distinctive Type Ia characteristics, pulled perf and small corner crease at top leftVERY FINE APPEARING USED EXAMPLE OF THE PERFORATED 1857 ONE-CENT TYPE Ia.
Type Ia was produced by only 18 of the 20 bottom-row positions on Plate 4. Although Plate 4 was designed with sufficient space to accommodate perforations, the height of the top row and bottom row positions resulted in the perforations often cutting into the design at either top or bottom.

1c Blue, Ty. III (21). Position 36L4, showing clear breaks in outer lines at top and bottom (the characteristics of the type), rich color, unobtrusive strike of circular datestamp, Very Fine, plated and signed by Ashbrook, with 1991 P.S.E. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (22). Position 89L4, intense shade on bright paper, neat circular datestamp cancel, fresh and Very Fine, with 1978 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. IV (23). Horizontal strip of three, deep rich color on bright paper, unusually choice centering, neat strikes of circular datestampVERY FINE-EXTREMELY FINE. AN ATTRACTIVE AND SCARCE WELL-CENTERED STRIP OF THREE OF THE 1857 PERFORATED ONE-CENT TYPE IV.
Most strips with such choice centering have been broken to feed collector demand for singles. We doubt this strip will survive the month.

3c Rose, Ty. I (25). Original gum, lightly hinged, bright colorA FRESH AND FINE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 3-CENT 1857 TYPE I PERFORATED--A CHALLENGING ISSUE TO FIND IN THIS QUALITY

A Relief from the top row of the plate, unusually choice centering with perforations clear of outer projections on all sides, radiant color, New Orleans circular datestampEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A BEAUTIFUL USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 5-CENT BRICK RED WITH OUTSTANDING COLOR AND CENTERING.

5c Red Brown (28). Lovely warm color (submitted to P.F. as Indian Red with good reason), detailed impression, circular datestamp cancels, fresh and Very Fine, with 1982 P.F. certificate as Scott 28, but we feel this is at least Bright Red Brown, Scott 28b
5c Indian Red (28A). A Relief from the top row of the plate, radiant color in the true Indian Red shade, neat strike of New Orleans La. circular datestampVERY FINE AND CHOICE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 5-CENT INDIAN RED.

5c Brown (29). Crisp impression, well-balanced margins, 11-bar grid cancel, Very Fine and choice, light purple backstamp, with 1988 P.F. certificate
5c Orange Brown, Ty. II (30). Unused (regummed), rich color, choice centering, Extremely Fine, an attractive and well-centered unused stamp, with 1982 P.F. certificate
5c Brown, Ty. II (30A). Original gum, three extra wide margins, dark shade and fresh color, Very Fine, with 1988 P.F. certificate
10c Green, Ty. I (31). Attractive centering with unusually wide margins at top and bottom which clearly shows the type characteristics, deep rich color on bright paper, clear strike of circular datestamp (probably Georgetown Cal.), Very Fine and choice, an attractive example of this issue, with 1988 P.F. certificate
10c Green, Ty. IV (34). Position 54L1, recut at bottom, deep rich color, attractive centering, neat circular datestamp cancelVERY FINE AND CHOICE LIGHTLY CANCELLED EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1857 TYPE IV PERFORATED.
