1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Mint N.H., enormous margins all around including parts of all nine surrounding stamps, deep rich color and proof-like impressionEXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS MAGNIFICENT MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 ONE-CENT TYPE IV HAS BEEN GRADED GEM 100 JUMBO BY P.S.E., WHICH IS THE HIGHEST GRADE ATTAINABLE. THE ESSENCE OF PERFECTION.
Many collectors have a tendency to discount how difficult it is to find imperforate classics in such superb condition. The assumption is that there are multiples which can be split to "make" perfect singles. However, one would have to find a block of nine with no hinging in the surrounding stamps that are included in order to produce the Gem offered here. For all the imperforate issues (Scott 1-17), only four stamps in total have achieved this ultimate grade in Mint N.H. condition -- two of Scott 9 and two of Scott 11.
With 2015 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100; unpriced in SMQ in Mint N.H. condition). Scott 9 is priced at the grade of 100 in hinged condition, at $13,000.00. This does not take into consideration any multiplier for Mint N.H. condition or for the higher grade.

1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Position 9R1L, recut once at bottom (only eight such recuts on plate), original gum, lightly hinged, large margins all around, deep rich color, fresh and Extremely Fine, this Type IV stamp shows the complete design at top, in its earlier state it was Type Ib Scott 5A, with 2003 P.F. and 2006 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, XF 90; SMQ $2,200.00)

1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Large to huge margins, especially deep shade and sharp impression, New York datestamp, Extremely Fine, with 2008 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90 Jumbo; SMQ $425.00)
3c Orange Brown, Ty. II (10A). Positions 87-89/97-98RO, block of twelve from Plate O, original gum, large margins to barely in at top left, intense shade and proof-like impression, diagonal crease affects three stamps, bottom right stamp stain spot mostly on backFINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1851 3-CENT TYPE II ORANGE BROWN, SCOTT 10A, FROM PLATE O. AN IMPORTANT CLASSIC UNITED STATES IMPERFORATE MULTIPLE.
This block comes from the lower left corner of the block of twelve from Plate O that was once part of the Stanley M. Piller and Robert Zoellner collections. After our Zoellner sale it was cut into smaller units, primarily to harvest a Mint N.H. single, but this block was preserved.

3c Dull Red, Ty. I (11). Large to huge margins including top sheet margin, original gum, lightly hinged, showing gash on shoulder variety, radiant color, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2012 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $1,150.00 with no premium for the variety)
3c Brownish Carmine, Ty. I (11). Original gum, large margins all around, rich Brownish Carmine color, sharp impression, Extremely Fine Gem, with 1985 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (OGh, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $1,150.00)
3c Dull Red, Ty. I (11). Original gum, lightly hinged, full to large margins including frameline of adjoining stamp above, bright shade, fresh, Very Fine and choice, with 1980 P.F. certificate for block
3c Dull Red, Ty. II (11A). Horizontal strip of three, huge margins all around including part of eleven adjoining stamps, rich color and detailed impression, neat strikes of blue Charleston circular datestamp and black Vera Cruz oval transit marking, Extremely Fine Gem, a phenomenal-quality multiple, with 2015 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100; multiples are unpriced in SMQ)
5c Red Brown (12). Large evenly balanced margins all around, rich color, detailed impression, town datestamp cancel, Extremely Fine, with 1991 P.F. and 2011 P.S.E. certificates
5c Red Brown (12). Full margins to just touched at top, rich color and sharp impression, red grid cancel, Fine, with 2005 P.S.E. certificate
