Positions 10/20R2, vertical pair, large to huge margins including top right corner sheet margins, unused (no gum), rich color, small scissors-cut at left between stamps, small thin spot at bottom, Extremely Fine appearance, a rare and desirable unused corner sheet-margin pair, ex Vogel, Scott Retail as no gum singles
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Plate 1E, large to enormous margins incl. parts of adjoining stamps at sides, marvelous rich color and magnificent impression complemented by bright red grid cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE IMPERFORATE 1851 ONE-CENT TYPE II FROM PLATE ONE EARLY. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE VIVID RED CANCEL.
With 2001 P.F. and 2003 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98 Jumbo; SMQ $1,900.00 as 98, unpriced in higher grades). The P.S.E. Population Report does not break down the 1c 1851's by plate. We are quite sure that the more desirable and scarcer Plate 1E stamps are much rarer in high grades than their Type II counterparts from other plates.

1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Horizontal pair, plating notation on back as Pos. 64-65R2, large margins, blue grid cancels, couple tiny adherences on front, otherwise Very Fine, with 2002 P.S.E. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Positions 18-20L1E, horizontal strip of three with inter-pane margin at right, full margins other sides to barely in at bottom of right stamp, neat strikes of Indianapolis In. circular datestamp, fresh color, overall Very Fine, desirable Plate 1E multiple, Ashbrook initials on back, with 2002 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. III (8). Plate 4, large margins to huge at bottom, deep rich color, clear breaks at both top and bottom, neat grid cancelEXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL USED EXAMPLE OF THE IMPERFORATE ONE-CENT TYPE III FROM PLATE FOUR.
Type III is defined by breaks in the outer lines at both top and bottom. Many Type III stamps have breaks that were created or enlarged by plate wear. Since the wear occurred over a period of time, the majority of stamps of this type (both unused and used) has small breaks in at least one line.
With 1985 P.F. and 2006 P.S.E. certificates (XF 90; SMQ $6,600.00)
1c Blue, Ty. III (8). Plate 4, three ample to huge margins, ever so slightly in at bottom, wide break at top, light unobtrusive blue circular datestamp, tiny corner margin crease at top left, small sealed tear at left center, otherwise Fine, with 1979 P.F. certificate as sound and 2011 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Plate 4, large even margins, distinct break at top, rich color, face-free circular datestamp leaves design clearly visibleEXTREMELY FINE. A CHOICE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 ONE-CENT IMPERFORATE TYPE IIIA. RARE IN THIS SUPERIOR GRADE.
With 2003 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Position 55R1E, large margins to touched at left, deep shade, light town datestamp, slight diagonal crease at bottom left, Very Fine appearance, ex Wagshal
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Position 10R1L, recut twice at bottom, original gum, huge top right corner sheet margins, large bottom margin showing part of adjoining stamp, just barely in along left ornaments, dark shade, bright and fresh paper, light wrinkle in selvage not mentioned on certificate, Very Fine and choice, an outstanding original-gum example from this fascinating position, 10R on Plate 1 Early is listed in the Scott U.S. Specialized Catalogue under No. 7 as "Design complete at top (10R1E only)" with a value of $2,000.00 used (vs. $150.00 for the usual No. 7) and unpriced in unused condition, the stamp offered here is 10R on Plate 1 Late after recutting, this position also has the complete design at top but the Scott Catalogue does not list it in recut state, ex Hansen, with 2001 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Position 1R1L, recut once at bottom, Jumbo margins, rich color, town cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $675.00 as 95, $1,200.00 as 98)
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Position 5R1L, double transfer, huge to enormous Jumbo margins showing parts of three adjoining stamps, attractive color, neat ms. cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, choice top row position (this was a Type Ib on early state of plate), with 2009 P.F. certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo)

Recut once at top and bottom, large even margins incl. part of adjoining stamps at top and bottom, pretty pastel color and crisp impression from what must be an early state of the reworked plate, face-free strike of town datestamp, Extremely Fine, ex Vineyard, with 1987 and 2010 P.F. certificates (XF 90)
