VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE UNUSED CUT SQUARE OF THE 3-CENT RED ON BUFF DIE 4 NESBITT ISSUE.
The UPSS Catalog states that there are no known fully mint entires for No. U8 (UPSS 12). However, one has surfaced since the 2018 version of the Catalog was published and is now in a major Midwest postal stationery collection. Even cut squares of this issue are very rare. A Power Search review lists only two sold in our sales over the past 30 years.

6c Vermilion on Cream entire, Official, Die WD4, "Specimen" Ovpt. (UO38S; UPSS WD40). Size 21, knife 98, watermark 2, unused, Extremely Fine and rare, this is known only as a "Specimen" and is an excellent alternative to the listed UO38 entire (UPSS WD40a), of which only two are known and is valued in Scott at $22,500.00, the UPSS Catalog records only six to eight of this "Specimen" No. WD40, ex Dr. Lobdell and Venn
