$10.00 Green & Black, State (O70). Original gum, lightly hinged, absolutely perfect centering and wide even margins, proof-like impression and colors, pristineEXTREMELY FINE GEM. UNDOUBTEDLY ONE OF THE FINEST ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLES OF THE $10.00 STATE DEPARTMENT ISSUE IN EXISTENCE.
The large format State Department dollar values are notorious for poor centering. Even well-centered stamps have slightly skewed vertical perforations which angle in toward the design at one spot or another. This stamp is perfectly "boxed" at all corners. We really see nothing to have justified anything less than a 95 grade, but we defer to the P.S.E. In any case, the other three OG stamps in the P.S.E. Population Report are graded 50, 75 and 80.

24c Vermilion, Interior, Soft Paper (O103). Original gum, lightly hinged, deep rich color, choice centering for this difficult issueVERY FINE AND CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE SCARCE 24-CENT INTERIOR AMERICAN BANK NOTE PRINTING. RARELY ENCOUNTERED IN SUCH PRISTINE CONDITION.
With 1991 and 2014 P.F. certificates (VF-XF 85). The P.F. has graded this stamp, three at 70 and one at 75. For comparison, P.S.E. has graded only one, at 30.
6c Bluish Purple, Justice, Soft Paper (O107). Original gum, lightly hinged, brilliant color, wide margins, fresh and Extremely Fine, with 2001 P.F. certificate
30c Brown, Treasury, Soft Paper (O112). Original gum, lightly hinged, pretty shade and crisp impression, wide and balanced marginsVERY FINE AND CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT TREASURY DEPARTMENT ON SOFT PAPER. A DIFFICULT ISSUE TO OBTAIN IN SUCH CHOICE CONDITION.
A Power Search review shows the last time we offered a comparable example was in our 2016 Inman sale. Most are either off-center or have small faults such as thin spots that can occur with this soft paper. For graded, the highest grade awarded by P.S.E. is one at 70. The P.F. has graded one at 90 (last offered by us in 2003) and one at 85 (also last offered by us in 2003).
With 1986 and 1990 P.F. certificates.
90c Brown, Treasury, Soft Paper (O113). Original gum, deep rich color and proof-like impression, choice centering for this difficult issue with wide marginsVERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THIS EXTREMELY RARE ISSUE. STAMPS PURPORTED TO BE THE 90-CENT TREASURY AMERICAN BANK NOTE CO. PRINTING ON SOFT PAPER ARE ALMOST ALWAYS MISCLASSIFIED CONTINENTAL PRINTINGS ON INTERMEDIATE PAPER.
This stamp has the true color and soft mesh paper of the American Bank Note Company printing. It is very difficult to obtain with any kind of decent centering. The last example we offered with comparable centering was in 2015. P.S.E. has never graded an original-gum example. P.F. has graded only one, at 70.
