VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1912 2-CENT LAKE. VERY FEW ARE KNOWN, ESPECIALLY IN MINT NEVER-HINGED CONDITION. A PHENOMENAL RARITY.

Through an error at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a small quantity of this stamp was erroneously printed using the inks in use at the time for the Postage Due issues.

Ex Dr. Killien and "Golden Oak". With 2001 P.F. and 2006 P.S.E. certificates (VF 80; SMQ $4,500.00). This is the only P.S.E. graded example of this issue. The P.F. has certified only a block of four and one other single in Mint N.H. condition. They have also certified only three hinged and one used.

Two of each, Mint N.H. except one each of 9c, 20c and 30c conservatively described by us as lightly hinged, one 15c regummed, better centering than normally seen, the beauty of this lot is that each is a slightly different shade, Very Fine-Extremely Fine group, Scott lists only two shades for each so this is conceivably complete for all shades, one 20c with 1983 P.F. certificate
