Neat herringbone cancel, few faults, Fine appearance, this issue only comes perforated, Scott Catalogue notes "nearly all examples of R31 are faulty or repaired and poorly centered. The catalogue value is for a fine centered stamp with minor faults which do not detract from its appearance"

Only 3,878 were issued imperforate (44 sheets with 82 stamps returned for perforating). No multiples are known for this issue.

Incredibly, this is the only example of the $20.00 Second Issue listed in Power Search with any kind of a handstamp cancel. All of the more than 20 used examples we have sold since 1993 have manuscript cancels.
