American Bank Note Company Contract for 1890 Issue. Ribbon bound manila folder entitled "Contract for furnishing Adhesive Postage Stamps. January 1, 1890, to December 31, 1893", containing the P.O. Dept. specifications for the 1890 Issue and the executed detailed contract between American Bank Note Co. and the Postmaster General, signed by James McDonough, John Wanamaker and several others, few pages have some toning and one with a tear, an important historical document which is the culmination of a fascinating bid process during which Charles Steel was initially the lowest bidder but was paid off by ABNCo. to "lose" the contract, the contract was then re-bid and awarded to ABNCo, also incl. few single page original documents between ABNCo. and Canadian P.M.G.
