FINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE STRIP OF ELEVEN OF THE 2-CENT IMPERFORATE FLAT PLATE COIL, SCOTT 344V, WITH THE PLATE NUMBER AND FOREIGN ENTRY OF THE ONE-CENT DESIGN.
This foreign-entry variety was caused when the 1c Franklin die transfer roll was used by mistake on plate 5299 -- the error was immediately caught and corrected by erasing the 1c entry, but the hairs from Franklin's head and traces of the "One Cent" remained on the plate.
