Mint N.H., beautifully centered, brilliant colors on fresh paper, most recent certificate harshly describes natural gum creases, still Extremely Fine Gem, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $1,500.00), only three grade higher (one at 98J, two at 100), with 2021 P.F. certificate

1c Green, Presidential (804). Mint N.H. top left plate no. 21864 block of four, well-centered, Very Fine, a very elusive plate number and one of the three rarest of the 127 plates used to print the 1c Presidential, 2020 Durland value
20c Bright Blue Green, Presidential (825). Bottom left plate no. 22176 block of ten, original gum, lightly hinged at top, outstanding centering and bright colorEXTREMELY FINE. AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE PLATE NUMBER 22176 BLOCK OF TEN OF THE 20-CENT 1938 PRESIDENTIAL ISSUE. THIS IS PROBABLY THE RAREST 20TH CENTURY PLATE NUMBER.
Plate number 22176 is almost assuredly the rarest plate number in 20th Century U.S. philately, perhaps rivaled only by one of the 1954 8c Liberty combination plate blocks (Scott 1041). Power Search contains one plate number single offered in our sales in the past 30 years. The plate blocks offered in this sale are the only examples we have encountered. This lightly hinged large format plate block is particularly desirable.

21c Dull Blue, Presidential (826). Top right plate no. 23053 block of four, Chicago Ill. precancels, retaining Mint N.H. gum, Very Fine and choice, very rare, Durland lists plate nos. 23053 and 23933 as existing only on precancelled plate blocks, this is the only example listed in Power Search, Durland value
$2.00 Yellow Green & Black, Presidential (833). 24 top double plate no. blocks of four, representing all of the plate number combinations possible for the issue, original gum, all but one or two are Mint N.H., bight and fresh, one with natural gum creases, Very Fine complete set, Scott values these at $85.00 each and does not differentiate based on plate number, however the green plate no. 24480 is scarcer and Durland values it at $300.00 for three of the combinations and $200.00 for the fourth combination, quoted Scott value here is for only $85.00 each
$5.00 Carmine & Black, Presidential (834). 30 top double plate no. blocks of four, representing all of the plate number combinations possible for the issue plus a few duplicates, original gum, all but two or three are Mint N.H., bight and freshVERY FINE COMPLETE SET OF PLATE BLOCKS FOR THE 1938 $5.00 PRESIDENTIAL ISSUE.
Scott values these at $325.00 each and does not differentiate based on plate number. However, some of these plate numbers are scarcer than others and Durland values nine of the plate blocks offered here at $600.00 each. Quoted Scott value here is for only $325.00 each
15c John Paul Jones, Perf 12 (1789B). Mint N.H., deep rich colors, Position "27" in pencil, fresh and Very Fine, this issue was printed by the American Bank Note Company and perforated in three different formats: Perf 11 x 12, Perf 11 All Around and Perf 12 All Around, it is believed that the USPS was unaware that there were different perforations, the Perf 12 All Around is by far the rarest.
