2c Rose, Ty. I, A.E.F. Booklet Pane (499f). Lightly hinged, few natural gum wrinkles and pencil notations on gum of two stamps, deep rich color, nice centering, left tab replacedVERY FINE APPEARING AND AFFORDABLE EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT A.E.F. BOOKLET PANE. IT IS BELIEVED THAT NO MORE THAN 20 EXIST IN ANY CONDITION.
The A.E.F. booklet panes were issued in September 1917, primarily for use by the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during World War I. Only 3,000 panes were prepared of both the 1c and 2c denominations. By October they were no longer needed, as Congress voted to allow mail to be sent free of charge by active members of the Armed Forces. Many of the panes were destroyed. This is an attractive collectible example of this rare pane despite the replaced left tab.

3c Violet, Ty. I, II, Booklet Panes of Six (501b, 502b). Three of each, all scarce to rare positions incl. Positions K, L, and N for No. 501b, first two Mint N.H., last lightly hinged, No. 502b with Positions K, L (Mint N.H.) and O, Fine-Very Fine, Positions N and O are extremely rare and sought after by specialists, comprising 0.4% and 0.3% of the printings according to U.S. Booklets and Booklets Panes, Scott Retail $545.00 for most common position
5c Blue (504). Perfectly centered with Jumbo margins, face-free cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2014 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $80.00 as 95, $260.00 as 98)
5c Rose, Error (505). Mint N.H., brilliant color, mathematically perfect centering on bright paper, long and full perforations all aroundEXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN ABSOLUTELY PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE PERF 11 5-CENT ERROR OF COLOR, WHICH HAS BEEN AWARDED THE GRADE OF GEM 100 BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED AND ONLY ONE OTHER SHARES THIS GRADE.
During the production of the normal 2c plate No. 7942, three positions were noted to be defective. The plate was sent back to the siderographer, who burnished out the three positions and mistakenly re-entered them using a transfer roll for the 5c stamp. The error passed unnoticed and the sheets were issued to the public both Perf 10, Imperforate and Perf 11 (Scott 467, 485 and 505).
With 2014 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100; unlisted in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $4,250.00 as 98). This is the highest grade awarded and only one other shares this grade.
5c Rose, Error (505). Horizontal strip of three, center stamp the error, single hinge mark, right 2c diagonal crease, Very Fine appearance, Scott Retail as error single
7c Black (507). Mint N.H., intense shade and impression, perfect centering, Extremely Fine Gem, with 1999 P.F. and 2014 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98; SMQ $1,300.00), this is the highest grade awarded and nine others share it
30c Orange Red (516). Mint N.H. bottom plate no. 6924 block of six, vivid color, fresh and Fine-Very Fine
50c Red Violet (517). Mint N.H., brilliant color, phenomenal centering with wide margins, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb stamp in every respect
$1.00 Violet Brown (518). Top imprint, plate no. 5782 and letter "A" block of six, all stamps with hinging, intense shade, attractive centering, Fine-Very Fine
