Sale 1205, Lot 2160, Revenues, Beer Stamps1933, Ty. B Surcharge on 1hhd. Black on Blue, Beer (REA168; Priester 196B). Mostly large margins, "PB&M Co. 2-7-34" perforated cancel, bold color, few light creases

VERY FINE. THIS IS ONE OF VERY FEW RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE 1933 ONE-HOGSHEAD IN BLACK WITH BUREAU SURCHARGE, SCOTT REA168. ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL REVENUE STAMPS.

The Priester census records only one example, which is likely the one offered in our 2006 Tolman sale. The example offered in our "Scarsdale" sale was likely unknown to the authors. Eric Jackson is aware of two additional copies, so four or five are known in total.
