3c Black on White, Post Office Official, Die PD2, Cut Square (UO3; UPSS PD13). Unused, 35 x 38mm, bright and freshVERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 3-CENT BLACK ON WHITE OFFICIAL CUT SQUARE, WHICH IS NOT KNOWN IN USED CONDITION.
Only one full entire is known and it is torn across the indicia. Ex Meisel and "Scarsdale". With 1955 and 2006 P.F. certificates.

The 2012 UPSS catalogue reports three mint entires in this size, as well as two in the much larger size 21, both of which are stained. This is one of the key items to a superb postal stationery or Officials collection.

3c Blue on Blue Post Office Dept., Die PD5, Cut Square (UO11; UPSS PD50). Unused, 40 x 44mm, deep rich colorVERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 3-CENT BLUE ON BLUE POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL. THIS IS THE ONLY EXAMPLE CUT SQUARE WE HAVE OFFERED SINCE KEEPING COMPUTERIZED RECORDS.
The 2012 UPSS catalogue records six entires in four different sizes. The example offered here was sold in Shreves 1998 Wampler sale as an entire (size 25, knife 122, wmk. 2) with edge faults and was turned into this sound cut square shortly afterwards. We have never encountered this as a cut square, only as an entire. Collectors of cut squares may never have another opportunity to acquire this in cut square format.

UPSS estimates that no more than five entires exist. It appears to be equally rare as a cut square.

2c Dark Red on White, War Department Official, Die WD2, Entire (UO19; UPSS WD2). Unused, size 2, knife 27, "Office of the Chief of Engineers. Official Business" two-line imprint at top, slight toning aat upper left and along edges, otherwise Very Fine, ex Stone and Dr. Lobdell, with 2011 P.F. certificate

Unused, 51 x 99mm, comprising nearly the full right quarter of the entire, fresh color and clear embossingEXTREMELY FINE. A SPECTACULAR AND RARE LARGE SIZED FULL CORNER OF THE 10-CENT DARK RED ON WHITE WAR DEPARTMENT REAY ISSUE.
The 2012 UPSS catalogue records just one mint entire of the 10c Dark Red on White, though experts we have consulted question the existence of a full entire. This is the largest corner recorded by Porter Venn and is unusual in its vertical dimension which captures the full height of the size 21 entire. Only 500 were issued.

Unused, 26 x 29.5mm, cut close to indicia but all parts of the embossing are completely intact, beautiful color, small thin spot at right and tiny thin in Franklin's hairFINE APPEARANCE. ONLY THREE MINT CUT SQUARES AND NO ENTIRES ARE RECORDED OF THE ONE-CENT RED ON ORANGE WAR DEPARTMENT PLIMPTON ISSUE. A GREAT RARITY.
