10c Carmine Lake, Small Die Trial Color Proof on India (400TC2). 32 x 25mm, intense color, shallow thin spotVERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE TRIAL COLOR PROOF FOR THE 10-CENT PANAMA-PACIFIC ISSUE, WHICH IS THE ONLY DENOMINATION KNOWN AS A TRIAL COLOR PROOF.
The Scott Catalogue lists the 10c in Brown Red as a large die trial color proof on India, and this Carmine Lake as a small die trial color proof on India. They are exceedingly rare -- this is the first we have offered since keeping computerized records. We suspect the Scott value of $1,100.00 is based on decades-old pricing and will be a fraction of its realization.
