Large to huge margins all around including parts of adjoining stamps at top and bottom, deep rich color, full clear strike of red grid cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, a lovely example of this plate variety which is present in the ninth vertical row of the left pane and varies in intensity from top to bottom (the upper positions are more pronounced, as in this example), ex Kirke, with 2006 P.F. and P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $1,200.00 for normal position)

According to a series of articles by the late Calvet M. Hahn in the Collectors Club Philatelist, the Red Orange shade was printed some time during the fourth and last printing, which took place in December 1850. Research by Wade Saadi indicates the Red Orange shade was produced exclusively during the last printing, stamps from which were part of the Fifth Delivery (December 7, 1850).

RAIL ROAD" straightline handstamp, tiny pinhole in collar area, Extremely Fine appearance, a beautiful sheet-margin example of the 10c 1847 Issue with the straightline handstamp applied at New York City on mail carried by the railroad between Philadelphia and New York, with 2009 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificate (VF-XF 85 Jumbo; SMQ $1,275.00 as 85, $1,750.00 as 90), no doubt the tiny pinhole kept this from grading significantly higher
