Top left "American Bank Note Company" Imprint, plate no. 405 and half arrow block of fourteen on original card backing, large margins, Extremely Fine, this India Proof is listed as a single and block of flour but unpriced, plate block of fourteen unlisted, we offered a similar plate block but on card instead of India in our Sale 948 which is believed to be unique (realized $2,200), this one is not unique but is extremely rare, with 1973 P.F. certificate as 165P3
2c Black Brown, Plate Proof on India (193P3). Top right "American Bank Note Company" imprint, plate no. 412 and half arrow block of fourteen on original card backing, rich color, Extremely Fine, we have argued in the past and the Scott Specialized Catalogue now lists this plate block in the proof section under the Special Printing No. 193 (see our Sale 867, lot 1184 for a full description and explanation), we have offered examples of this printing only on card in the past, with 1973 P.F. certificate as 157P3 plate block, which at the time was the only available Scott number for this printing

Of the 166 sets printed in these colors, many were hybrids. This is a wonderful set, with no hybrids, perfect colors and pristine cards

It is believed that only 85 Roosevelt albums were produced, from which all known Small Die Proofs on wove originate.

Only 85 presentation albums were prepared.
Overrun Country Issue, 1943, Red, White and Blue Engraved French Flag Die Proof. 104 x 64mm on proof paper, pencil "Blue die 15714" at bottom left, "Red die 15713" at bottom right, while not the finished product that was printed by rotary offset, this was probably a guide to the engraver, Extremely Fine, believed to be unique, see Johl Vol II, pp 220-222
5c Overrun Country, Large Die Frame Essay in Black (909E1 var.). 89 x 74mm die sunk on slightly reduced card (full die sinkage), this is the engraved frame only without a flag or country name, in production the flags and names were printed by rubber rotary process, the frame design by A. E. Foringer, engraved by Arthur C. Vogel, Extremely Fine, very rare with only two believed known to exist, this was featured in an Essay-Proof Journal article (Vol. 5, No. 2, April 1948) and given, at the time, a Brazer listing of 909E-C
1944, Frank For Free Postage, Deep Red and Blue Engraved Die Essay on India (Brazer Essay O122E). 76 x 64mm and die sunk on larger card, Inscriptions around edge, with central design an outline of the United States and portraits of Army, Navy and Air Corps men, simulated perforations, card creases, the die itself Extremely Fine, signed in pencil "E.R. Grove '44" the engraver, frame engraved by G.W. Megee, believed to be no more than two known, see Essay-Proof Journal (Vol. 6, No. 4, October 1949)
5c United Nations Conference, Essay Photo Models (928E). Four different, each in special folder with "Treasury Department Bureau Of Engraving & Printing Washington, D.C." imprints and Silver embossed treasury seal, two are 3c, one with Allegory of Victory as on No. 907, two 5c, one with fairly similar design as adopted but no quotation marks or Roosevelt name, the other with smaller lettering and side view picture of FDR, Very Fine, the first time we have seen these, fascinating and no doubt scarce

In his May 2010 U.S. Specialist article, Harry Charles states that only one set might exist (ex Beutel). We believe two other sets might exist, including the set offered here
