1c-90c 1851-60 Issue, Small Die Proofs on Wove (40P2a-41P2a, 12P2a, 43P2a-47P2a). The complete set of Panama-Pacific Small Die Proofs, large margins, rich colors, usual toning and tiny pinholes as encountered on all genuine examplesVERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE COMPLETE SET OF PANAMA-PACIFIC SMALL DIE PROOFS FOR THE 1851-60 ISSUE. THIS IS THE FIRST COMPLETE SET WE HAVE EVER OFFERED -- IT IS BELIEVED THAT NO MORE THAN FIVE OF EACH WERE PREPARED.
In 1915, for the Panama-Pacific Exposition, a limited special printing of 413 different small die proofs was created. Printed on yellowish wove paper, they are considered extremely scarce. It is believed that no more than five examples of each stamp were produced. For the 3c we have sold several as singles, and so this may in fact be the only intact set.
