Sale 1291, Lot 261, Columbian and Later Issues1c-$5.00 Columbian (230/245). 34 stamps totaling $14.79 in postage, all but two are Columbian issue including 13 of the 16 values, with two $2.00 and single $3.00 and $5.00, multiple copies of several cents values and two 10c Green Small Banknote (226), tied by strikes of "New York Reg" oval cancels on 11 x 12 in. large part of registered parcel front to Messrs. J. S. Morgan in London, England, "New York Reg'y Div. 11-4 1893" oval datestamp and registry label numbered "95802", blue crayon crossed lines tie some stamps including a $2.00, red London registered datestamp, return address for Drexel, Morgan & Co., some stamp faults to be expected on such an artifact and the front with some small edge tears, also a couple stamps appear to have either been moved (possibly fell off at some point) or replaced, but the four dollar-value stamps are all well tied to both the cover and to other stamps

Natural straight edge at right, tied by Yokohama, Japan circular datestamp and "PAQUEBOT" framed handstamp on 2c Green entire from San Francisco to Nagasaki, sender's directive "Per Stmr 'City of Rio de Janeiro'", brown circular datestamp, label affixed over stamps indicates delay due to "Overcarriage on to Shanghai through neglegince [sic] of the str. Rio", applied by the Post and Telegraph Office at Nagasaki, label and back of cover with same "Nagasaki Japan 18 Dec. 96" (1896) circular datestamp, most of backflap removed, otherwise Very Fine, extremely rare postal label explaining mail was accidentally carried beyond Japan by the Rio de Janeiro on its westbound run

Oct. 26 7:30 AM 96" (1896) duplex datestamp and oval grid cancel on cover to Yokohama, Japan, and forwarded to Nagasaki, forwarding address in bright red, Tacoma Wash. backstamp (Nov. 1) and "25/CTMS/T" deficiency handstamp, "DUE" in circle with pencil "10" sen rate, Japan franking on back with 2s, 4s and 10s stamps paying the postage due and forwarding postage, tied by Yokohama and Nagasaki handstamps, reduced at left, slight wear and vertical fold do not affect stamps, Fine, scarce

Horizontal pair, perforations gauge approximately 11-3/4, choice centering and margins, tied by "Benton Harbor Mich. Dec. 20, 1915" machine cancel on Covel Manufacturing Co. printed address cover to Benton Harbor, Very Fine, these were produced by Filstrup using a Rossback perforating machine, with 2013 P.F. certificate
