4c Orange Brown, Bluish (360). Slightly disturbed original gum which is minor and from prior hinging, rich color and detailed impression, typical centering for this difficult issueFINE. AN ATTRACTIVE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE EXTREMELY RARE 4-CENT BLUISH PAPER
The June 1910 Third Assistant Postmaster General's report states that 4,400 (eleven sheets) of the 4c were printed on Bluish Paper. It is believed that none of the 4c and 8c Bluish Paper stamps were distributed to post offices, and that all of the examples in collectors' hands reached the market through the Travers-Steinmetz exchange and the 1914 National Museum trades to H. F. Colman (12 copies) and Nassau Stamp Company (65 copies).

The 5c Panama-Pacific Issue is very rare as a wide top plate block. A Power Search review found several wide bottom plate blocks, as well as some standard top plate blocks, but this is only the second wide top plate block in Mint N.H. condition we have offered since at least 1993.

A review of Power Search reveals only two other Mint N.H. wide top plate blocks offered by our firm since 1997. The plate block offered here is far superior than those two in terms of centering.

For no apparent reason, the 5c has the highest percentage of faulty stamps of any of the 1914 Compound Perf issues. Of the 24 used copies in our census, seventeen are either faulty or have the perforations in on at least one side of the design.

2c Rose, Ty. I, A.E.F. Booklet Pane (499f). Tab at left, original gum, lightly hinged, brilliant colorFINE-VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT A.E.F. BOOKLET PANE. IT IS BELIEVED THAT NO MORE THAN 20 EXIST IN ANY CONDITION.
The A.E.F. booklet panes were issued in September 1917, primarily for use by the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during World War I. Only 3,000 panes were prepared of both the 1c and 2c denominations. By October they were no longer needed, as Congress voted to allow mail to be sent free of charge by active members of the Armed Forces. Many of the panes were destroyed. A Power Search review shows many surviving examples have faults. The example offered here is one of the exceptions.

Front and back covers, the 2c intact staples at left and eleven pieces of interleaving without any stamps but front cover separated, 1c covers only, green cover reads reads "300 1 Cent Postage Stamps $3", pink cover reads "300 2 Cent Postage Stamps $6", Very Fine, it is unfortunate that no stamps accompany but these are phenomenal collateral items, there are no known part or complete A.E.F. booklets of the 2c and there are believed to be only five or six covers of empty 2c booklets
