1c-$5.00 1894-98 Bureau Issues, Balance (247/282). Unused balance of 14 stamps, range of values from 1c thru 15c plus $5.00 No. 263 (regummed over thin and reperfed), some flaws to be expected but several with Very Fine appearance, four certificates accompany, Scott Retail more than $3,000.00
1c Ultramarine (246). Mint N.H., brilliant color on bright paper, wide and balanced margins, light natural gum wrinkle at top right, Extremely Fine, ex Odeneal, with 1988 P.F. and 2007 P.S.E. certificates (XF 90 Jumbo; SMQ $500.00), this surely would have graded much higher were it not for the natural gum wrinkle
2c Pink, Ty. I (248). Original gum, single hinge mark, brilliant color, mathematically perfect centering, Extremely Fine Gem, a beautiful stamp, with 2010 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, Gem 100; SMQ $600.00), this is the only example at this lofty grade (one hinged 100J is also recorded)
2c Carmine, Ty. I (250). Mint N.H., balanced margins, vivid color, fresh and Extremely Fine, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90; SMQ $325.00)
2c Carmine, Ty. II (251). Mint N.H., rich color, three wide margins, Very Fine, with 2013 P.S.E. certificate showing attached top plate number selvage, which accompanies
2c Carmine, Ty. II (251). Original gum, choice centering with balanced margins, fresh color, Extremely Fine, with 2012 P.S.A.G. certificate (90 Ogh)
2c Carmine, Ty. III (252). Mint N.H., precise centering on post-office fresh paper, bright color, Extremely Fine, with 1992 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates (XF 90; SMQ $1,000.00)
3c Purple (253). Original gum, Jumbo margins and near perfect centering, rich color, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2012 P.S.A.G. certificate (95J Ogh)
5c Chocolate (255). Original gum, lightly hinged, wide margins and precise centering, deep rich color, Extremely Fine Gem, with 1989 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $350.00)
6c Dull Brown (256). Original gum, hinged in bottom left corner, essentially perfect centering, rich color on bright paper, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2008 P.S.E. certificate (OGh, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $575.00)
8c Violet Brown (257). Original gum, rich color and detailed impression, mathematically perfect centeringEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1894 8-CENT UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE, WHICH IS GRADED GEM 100 BY P.S.E.
With 2012 P.S.E. certificate (OGh, Gem 100; SMQ $2,450.00). This is the highest grade awarded to a Scott No. 257 in any condition (used, original gum or Mint N.H.) and no other example has equaled it
10c Dark Green (258). Redistributed original gum, Jumbo margins and well-centered, gorgeous color, Extremely Fine, with 2007 P.S.E. certificate (DOG, XF 90; SMQ $650.00)
50c Orange (260). Original gum, lightly hinged, vibrant color, outstanding centering, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $1,750.00), only one has graded higher and four others share this grade
$1.00 Black (261). Original gum, perfectly centered with massive margins all around, bright shade and detailed impressionEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 TYPE I UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE. A STAMP OF TRULY MASSIVE PROPORTIONS.
