10c Brown (161). Mint N.H. block of four with selvage at right, choice margins and centering -- the top left stamp is a gem -- magnificent color and freshnessVERY FINE-EXTREMELY FINE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 10-CENT 1873 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY ISSUE.
A review of old auction catalogs and of Power Search reveals how rare the 10c Continental Bank Note Co. Issue is as a Mint N.H. block. The Caspary collection had hinged blocks. The Curtis collection, recently sold by our Firm and noted for its multiples, contained a plate block with Mint N.H. stamps but with small gum disturbances. Since keeping computerized records we have offered no other Mint N.H. blocks (and only a handful of Mint N.H. singles).
With 2016 P.F. certificate. Unpriced in Scott as Mint N.H.
